Jordan Barrant

Writer. Curator. Artist.

Jordan Barrant is a Chicago-based writer, curator, and interdisciplinary artist. Her roots ground her research and writing practice to her Southern American and Caribbean heritage as well as queer lineages. Through oral histories and archival research, Jordan sees the past as an invitation to brighter and loving futurities. Working across film, fiber, and poetry, Jordan is affirmed by process and bound by deep listening.

Jordan is a Spelman Alumna and current Masters Candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Visual and Critical Studies.

Alongside her studies, she has held positions at the Studio Museum in Harlem, the California African American Museum, the Jamaica Art Society, the Alliance of HBCU Museums and Galleries and 52 Walker. She has completed residencies at the National Gallery of Jamaica and Artpace San Antonio.
